WELCOMING OUR NEW INVESTORS
Ahead of the race weekend BWT Alpine F1 Team announced a line-up of world-class sportsman as new investors in Otro Capital’s investment into the team. Esteban and Pierre welcomed Rory McIlroy and Anthony Joshua in Austin, offering both a custom gift made of materials from the team’s F1 factory in Enstone. Both Rory and Anthony got involved in the events of the weekend with Rory stepping in to caddy Esteban in the lead up to Saturday’s Sprint Race, and Anthony helping the team with pitstop practice on Sunday. Esteban and Pierre also paid homage to two-time Super Bowl champions Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, who are also new investors in the team. The two drivers wore Mahomes and Kelce Kansas City Chiefs jerseys into the paddock on Thursday.
F1 ACADEMY SEASON FINALE
Alpine Academy driver Abbi Pulling competed in the final round of F1 Academy series, claiming her seventh podium of the season and coming away with a fifth-place finish in the championship. Racing alongside Formula 1 for the first time in its inaugural season, a selection of F1 drivers supported the series with Esteban presenting the award for pole position after Friday’s Qualifying sessions. Over the weekend BWT Alpine F1 Team also announced, Reserve Driver and Alpine Academy member Jack Doohan would be taking over driving duties in Mexico and Abu Dhabi in the team’s two mandatory rookie Free Practice sessions.
FUN IN THE PADDOCK
Accompanied by the team’s new investor and four-time Major winner Rory McIlroy, Esteban and Pierre went head-to-head in the ‘Rory Challenge’ trying their hand at some mini golf in the Paddock. Pierre also caught up with fellow F1 driver and friend Yuki Tsunoda as the two played miniature basketball together with the Frenchman making sure to step in and help Yuki make the shot.
PAYING HOMAGE TO FRENCH LEGEND
Pierre paid tribute to French F1 driver François Cevert 50 years after his death at the 1973 United States Grand Prix. Wearing a helmet design modelled off Cervert’s own, Pierre sat down with three time F1 World Champion Jack Stewart to pay tribute to the Briton’s former teammate.
